Good afternoon everyone, I hope you all are having a great week.
Firstly, I am pleased to say that at the time of sending this e-mail we now have 1277 residents signed up to Staffordshire Smart Alerts in Trentham and Hanford. Thank you all for supporting this system and helping it to grow.
It would be fantastic if we could make it to 1300 by the end of the month. If you could please keep spreading the word about these e-mails to friends, family, neighbours and via social media – thank you.
Those wishing to ‘sign up’ can do so by visiting www.staffordshiresmartalert.co.uk.
Patrols – Please find at the bottom of the e-mail the list of locations I have visited over the last three days along with upcoming Police Street Surgeries. As I head into my noon shifts, I will be attending as many of the locations not yet visited, as well as ensuring that I return to locations such as Danebower Road, where a resident has requested more patrols in the evening.
One of the questions I am most frequently asked is… how far do I walk? So, this week I decided to record it – On 10th, 11th and 12th November I walked a total of 27 miles around the Trentham & Hanford area, during which I attended as many of the locations that I could to address issues and concerns that you have raised.
Meadow lane/Chessington Cr –
Concerns have been raised that vehicles coming from Chessington Cr onto Meadow Lane are not stopping at this junction, causing fears of road traffic accidents. On 10/11/25 I attended the location to take a look. Following this patrol I have put in a request to the Council for a junction line to help alert drivers to stopping. The reference number of this report is RAH049149. Please could I ask drivers to take extra care around this junction – Thank you.
Hanford Park – Graffiti
On 10/11/2025 I completed a patrol of the park, and I am happy to report I came across no issues. I did however notice some offensive graffiti, to which I contacted the council and have since received feedback that it has been removed.
How to contact the Council If you need to make a report to the Council, this can be done by either calling 01782 234 234 or by visiting www.stoke.gov.uk.
New Park Gardens - lighting
Following attending the New Park Gardens Resident Meeting last week, concerns were raised about the lack of lighting, making residents, concerned when leaving their addresses at night. I have e-mailed Teachers Housing raising the concerns of residents regarding the lighting.
Parking concerns - This does continue to be one of the most frequently reported issues in the area. Concerns such as vehicles parking on bends, blocking pavements, across drives and too close to junctions.
On 12/11/2025 I attended Kennedy Road (Junction of The Lea) to continue work around the parking issues/concerns here. On my arrival I addressed a van parked on the junction, which was causing a visibility obstruction. Whilst present a resident informed me of a near miss involving a child, as well as those using mobility scooters having to use the road due to no room being left on the pavement. I’ll be returning to this location as frequently as I can. During my patrols I also attended Churchill Ave, Parkwood Ave, Edward Ave and Briarbank Cl to keep an eye on parking concerns recently raised at these locations.
Speeding
Issues regarding speeding have been raised in Stuart Avenue. On 10/11/2025 and 12/11/2025 I completed patrols of Stuart Ave re these issues and will continue to patrol this location as frequently as i can. Please continue to report any concerns re parking/speeding to 101 (non-emergency) and 999 (emergency). This helps to ensure incidents are recorded, responded to promptly and it also helps local officers gain a greater understanding of where our hot spot locations are.
Priory C of E Academy visit–
On 10/11/2025 I attended the Priory C of E Academy, where I spoke to pupils in years 5 and 6 about Online Safety and about being kind and respectful to each other when communicating online. Thank you to the Priory for inviting me along.
Neighbourhood Watch -
I am very happy to announce that a resident from the Trentham Central Resident Association has set up a Neighbourhood Watch Zone in Timor Grove. I have also launched Neighbourhood Watch Zones in Java Cr, Caspian Gr and Baltic Cl. On 11/11/2025 I attended all but 10 properties in these streets, delivering welcome packs.
I did run out of the packs, but I will be delivering the remaining 10 later today. Neighbourhood Watch lamppost signs will be placed at these locations hopefully on 15/11/25. If you would like to register your property onto any of the zones we have for the area, this can be done by visiting www.ourwatch.org.uk. I am in the process of locating the next zones – I’ll update you with where they will be in the very near future.
